Using a Third-Party Mouse on Mac
Posted October 29th, , pm Can you assign keycodes to those buttons in your mouse driver? Posted October 29th, , pm Mice don't work the same in Mac. Say goodbye to "back" and Hello to Scroll. That's about all you'll get even with 3rd party app mods. I'm not familiar with the Razer mouse, is it made by logitech? If so, you may have luck installing lcc20, which is Logitech Control Centre, and does help customise some of the buttons. USB Overdrive is another app that might help tweak some mouse settings.
If I remember right, both of those apps are free. I happen to really like the lcc20 for my Marble Mouse.

Posted October 29th, , pm Look in your Firefox History Menu, and you'll see these shortcuts Back: Command-[ Forward: Command-] Map your mouse buttons to do that. Those commands also tend to work across the rest of the OS Finder windows, other browsers, etc.
I don't think it'll make a difference, but note that I'm using Jaguar. Posted October 30th, , am Thanks for the info everyone. And yes I can assign keyboard shortcuts to the various buttons on my Razer mouse and I mapped the Command-[ shortcut to the button I want, and it works great in everything except for Firefox. This is why I asked the question because if it works in Finder and other apps then why not in Firefox.
JABtertius Guest. USB Overdrive allowed me to assign "back" to one of my buttons and it worked on Firefox 2. I did notice that the back button worked on Firefox 1. So it look like I found the one thing that a Mac can't give me but Windows can. Posted October 31st, , am Have you ever contemplated trying mouse gestures navigation?ameninfear.tk
